CONCERT:
It's a Win-Win: Sunidhi's Krazy2 Extravaganza

A rocking performance coupled with a cause that is equally good, at a sold-out event, is nothing short of a win-win situation. A Siliconeer report.

Versatile Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan and actor Ali Zafar presented a fantastic concert in San Jose, April 7. The singers and dancers along with live orchestra provided a high-energy performance.

While Sunidhi Chauhan had the audience dancing to her recent songs like Sheila Ki Jawaani (Tees Maar Khan) and Disco Deewane (Student of the Year), she also had some quieter moments with some songs that did not have any music, just her melodious voice.

Ali Zafar, an actor known best for his role in Tere Bin Laden (2010) and more recently, Chashme Baddoor (2013), on the other hand, was a crowd pleaser, especially for the women. He also sang some old favorites from the Kishore Kumar era.

Rakesh Maini, a finalist in the Indian Idol show, presented a number of recent hits, including Challa (Jab Tak Hai Jaan).

The performance was equaled by superb light and sound from the tech teams. In short, this was a well-rehearsed and well-organized concert that mesmerized  people in the packed auditorium.

Sankara Eye Foundation hosted the event as a fundraiser for the upcoming hospital in Rajasthan. The foundation is grateful for the generous donations and support of its donors on its journey to eradicate curable blindness in India. SEF’s mission is to realize its goal of “Vision 20/20 by 2020,” performing free eye surgeries to the rural blind.

The year 2013 is a memorable year for Sankara because it achieved the major milestone of one million free eye surgeries. Sankara has now established nine hospitals across India. All of these hospitals are already up and running, performing thousands of eye surgeries and eye camps per year. SEF has just completed fundraising for the tenth hospital in Uttar Pradesh. The next focus for fundraising is for the SEF hospital in Rajasthan.
