The first season of Celebrity Cricket League was held in 2010. It started with four teams from four different Indian film industries. Then four other teams were added over the next three years taking the number of teams to eight.

Today, in its fourth season, Celebrity Cricket League has over 200 celebrities playing Cricket from eight different languages.

The matches are of 20-overs format, telecast live on eight different TV channels. With some of the biggest names from the Indian film industry, the likes of Salman Khan, Mohanlal, Venkatesh and Sudeep, and many more on the field, it is a visual treat for fans as they watch their favorite stars shift screens and take on each other at the cricket grounds.

Celebrity Cricket League has a good mix of glamor, entertainment and sports.

Cricket and cinema are two of the biggest fascinations for Indians and CCL has a predictable mix of both. Vishnuvardhan Induri, founder of CCL says “The league offers the best of cricket and entertainment to its viewers and fans, the matches are very exciting and the league has grown exponentially over the last four years. It can only get better.”

The league has big names from various film industries supporting their favorite stars. Among the many teams, the Bengal Tigers is owned by Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, while the Veer Marathi team is owned by Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh.

Chennai Rhinos were the winners of CCL-1 and CCL-2. The team, captained by actor Vishal, showed tremendous sportsmanship and cricketing talent on the field. CCL-3 was won by Karnataka Bulldozers and was captained by Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep. CCL-4 saw some exciting matches with a nail-biting finish right to the last ball.
